ShonaArneilupdatedphoto2025_Windsor_SS_0014HR.jpgDear Windsor Community,

Thank you for your support during the uncertainty of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. I need to commend our entire community for the care, common sense and calm that has been on display since this time last week. For those whose homes and lives have been impacted, our thoughts are with you. We are pleased to report that our school has no damage of note, which means that our school can continue as a place of certainty for our children and community alike.

We held our newsletter distribution over until today to ensure only essential information was being communicated last week. Now that we are back, our priority continues to be children learning. Learning in a secure and safe environment with their teachers who know them well. There will be an extra layer of support this week and ongoingly, as we recognise many families are managing or recovering from flooding waters.

Do you need support?

Please ask as we have a school community ready to help. You may do this via your classroom teacher, directly to leadership, to your P&C or via admin@windsorss.eq.edu.au

NAPLAN- Year 3 and Year 5

Please do not worry as we have plenty of time for this National testing process. The window for this can be extended if required. We will decide tomorrow (Tuesday) if we proceed as planned this Wednesday, which at this point is highly likely, or we may hold over until next week. Data collection and information will be  shared with Year 3 and Year 5 tomorrow.

International Women’s Day

Although TC Alfred has taken most of our recent attention, I didn’t want International Women’s Day to pass without acknowledgement. I want to say thank you to the incredible women right across our staff at Windsor State School, with special mention to my leadership team.

Nikki, GannonBusiness Manager. Nikki has worked closely with me since last year to ensure fidelity of our many school systems. These include financial, facilities and HR processes that are essential to the effective management of our large primary school. She also oversees our fantastic team in the front office – Anna, Linda, Ruth and Sara.

Her vast experience and knowledge of students with disabilities has allowed Windsor to boast and maintain a highly effective team of Personalised Learning teachers. Her ability to connect with families is also a gift to her our school.

Lisa is an outstanding leader of Curriculum with a deep passion for the currency and knowledge of best practice when teaching and learning. Teachers are fully supported by Lisa each week and our student outcomes are a direct result of Lisa’s work over numerous years.

Roxie O’DonoghueDeputy Principal Junior School. While she could easily lead her own school, Roxie continues to dedicate herself to Windsor. Roxie steps up with confidence and accuracy with her informed decision making each day. Her deep knowledge of our school and strong connection with staff, ensures that we are a child first/people first kind of school.

I am privileged to work alongside such professionals who model compassion, resolve, strength of character, high intellect and an outward facing approach to their areas of expertise. Importantly for me, they also love their jobs and know how to laugh, which I think filters right through to our students.

Yours in Education

Shona
