The Sustainable Garden
Did you know? ...
Windsor State School collects cans. At the fun run some helpful collectors (Suzie, Nick and Ed) were able to amass an amazing 7 bags of cans, bottles, poppers. This raises money not only for the Sustainable Garden but also the P&C. During the week students are asked to sort their rubbish into either general, recycling or the Cans for Change bins once they’re finished eating. At Garden Club we get all the Cans for Change bins and empty them into the bags ready to recycle.

Composting is a great way to use food scraps like apples, bananas or carrot tops and create rich soil. At Windsor we use the compost bays and compost bins to collect food scraps, leaves and other natural waste fibres. This breaks down in the nutrient dense soil you can see in our garden. We collect the mature compost from our bays to fill our garden beds to support our flowers, fruit and vegetables to grow.
