2025 Year 6 Canberra Senior Trip & Future Senior Trips
After successfully re-engaging with the Year 6 Senior Trip to Canberra in 2023 & 2024, Windsor State School is solidifying and finalising plans for the continuation of our Year 6 Senior Trip to Canberra in 2026 and 2027.The feedback from students and staff who had the privilege of engaging in the 2023 & 2024 Senior Trips was overwhelmingly positive. The students learnt so much, made such great memories and solidified friendships which may very well be with them for many years to come.
The intention of this article is to both celebrate the wonderful engagement and behaviour demonstrated by our current Year 6 students on their Year 5 leadership camp which leads into their Senior Trip this year, and to also provide forward notice to our Year 4 and Year 5 parents and carers regarding this destination as the venue for their students as they move into their graduating cohort in the coming years.
Whilst in Canberra, our Year 6 students will be provided with the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government will continue to contribute $90 funding per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards the costs of our Senior Trip.
We appreciate that this is a significant investment of time, energy and funding, but strongly believe in the benefits of this learning opportunity for our students.
We wish to pass on a huge thank you to all parents and carers who supported their child’s participation in 2025. We also wish to pass on a huge thank you to Mrs Vincenzi, Mrs Robertson, Mr Shearer, Miss Arthur, Mrs Dwan, Mr Farrel & Ms Arneil who will support our students throughout their week in the nation’s capital this year. It is great to work in a school community that is so passionate about the learning experiences that students are afforded.
