Classrooms are bursting with students busily showing off their learning, as they complete end of unit tasks and/or assessments. Teachers’ smiles across the school are a sure sign that our students are giving it their best and producing great work!

Sport and celebrations of music are a prominent part of our end of semester activities. Tonight is our much anticipated mid-year music concert and we are also looking forward to our 3-6 athletics days at Windsor Park and P-2 Sports Carnival on the school oval.

We will enjoy the upcoming sporting events with Mr Farrell, who we are very sad to share will be leaving Windsor State School at the end of this term. Mr Farrell has been a wonderful addition to our school community, building strong connections with both staff and students. While he had hoped to continue as our long-term PE teacher, personal circumstances will see him relocate to Toowoomba — and we all agree that this would make for quite a challenging commute for him and his family. We are grateful that Mr Farrell is supporting us through the transition as we finalise the recruitment process for our next PE teacher.

Staff Retirements 

We also farewell Mrs Jeanette Baigent who has been our Business Manager for over 10 years and Mrs Sue Paul, who has been a part-time teacher aide at our school for over 23 years. While Jeanette has been on leave for the past year, she has finally decided that the time is now right to enter the next phase of life to enjoy time and space with family, and grandchildren in particular. Sue also has made the difficult decision to finish her much-loved career at Windsor and move onto supporting her grandchildren, now as a volunteer classroom helper. We wish both of these committed women all the best and say thank you, as they have contributed so much to our school community over many years.

Academic Reporting 

Written academic reports are provided twice annually. Semester One written reports will be distributed prior to the upcoming holiday break, on the final Thursday of the term. This is a change from previous years, in which reports were issued following the holiday period.
This year, reporting will align with the Version 9 Curriculum Reporting Framework. As a result, some minor adjustments to wording will be implemented as described below. At Windsor we prioritise personalised overall teacher comments which support the allocation of achievement standards.

PLEASE NOTE: In Semester One, Prep report cards will only report on English, Maths and Health & Physical Education. While other subjects will have been experienced, they will not be reported on.

At Windsor our behaviour comment and grade will reflect a student’s demonstration of our core values of Respect for Self, Respect for Others and Respect for our School throughout the semester. It will reflect their ability to implement thinking and actions that are in-line with our five-keys to success, which are Confidence, Persistence, Resilience, Getting Along and Organisation. It will generally reflect their conduct throughout the semester regarding their demonstration of the Windsor Way and the impact that this has had on those around them.

Uniform Call Out

At Windsor if an accident befalls a child of any age, we discreetly support them to change uniforms. For this to happen we draw on our collection of spare uniform pieces which are kept in our ‘sick bay’. This is a call out for any spare uniforms that have been worn home to please be returned to admin. We are also requesting donations of any sized uniforms that your child may have grown out of. These can be dropped off at admin on any day, or at the uniform shop on a Friday. Thank you!
