Across the Principal's Desk
We have officially reached our halfway point of the 2025 school year, which seems to come around faster each time. What a successful 10 weeks of learning it has been!
On Monday we paused to celebrate student achievement at our Mid-Year ACE Awards. This formal occasion provided yet another valuable opportunity to acknowledge our student’s dedication to learning, their collaborative skills and the strength of our school culture. We were treated to a beautiful performance by the Senior Strings Ensemble, led by Mrs Fanning, who set the scene for what can be achieved with focus, practice and a love of learning.
The morning also provided a time to acknowledge and farewell Mrs Sue Paul and Mrs Jeanette Baigent, as they step into retirement. Staff gathered during the week to wave off these dedicated women, and thank them for their contribution to Windsor State School.
Farewell to Mr Farrell and Welcome to Mr Kurtz
Today we met Mr Simon Kurtz who will commence in Term 3 at Windsor as our PE teacher. Mr Kurtz has a passion for all things sport, with a love of rugby league yet also very comfortable on the indoor netball court. Mr Farrell has been busy handing over all of the important details to ensure that Mr Kurtz can hit the ground running next term.
We know that learning continues beyond the walls of the classroom. With the weather gods on our side, Year 3-6 students and staff enjoyed two quality days of athletics. On display were some very strong individual athletic performances and high levels of participation. As is the Windsor Way, parents were again on hand to support the flow of all events and to provide the sale of sweet treats, keeping energy levels high.
Do you like to Dance?
The Windsor Wigglers led by year 6 teacher, Ms Stephanie Arthur, certainly do! Students from Prep – Year 2 showed off what they have been learning during lunch breaks throughout this first semester. Thank you Ms Arthur who leads this joyful extra-curricular option each week. She is also choreographing for our term 3 musical so she is a very busy lady indeed!
Reporting
As we distribute academic reporting today, term 3 planning is also well underway. Our Head of Department-Curriculum, Lisa Heard, has been working tirelessly with each year level team to ensure that we kick off term 3 with clarity and well-prepared units of work.
We will round off the Semester this Friday with our Prep - Year 2 students proudly wearing house colours and joining in the rousing cheers for Bowen, Lutwyche, Maynard and Wilson at our Junior Athletics Carnival – I look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you for your ongoing support of your students’ learning. I wish you all a wonderful holiday break with your families and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 14th July as we commence term 3.
Yours in Education
