Encouraging Students to Take the Perspective of Others
Whenever people work, live or associate together, there will be times where they disagree or clash. When it comes to seeing another child’s perspective or understanding their feelings, children’s ability to empathise is in a stage of growth and development that requires our nurturing as parents and educators. Coming to understand that others have thoughts, perceptions and feelings that are separate from their own, along with the ability to explicitly infer these mental states in others, are important keys to success for our students. Connecting Habits- Helping students to get along
In order to back up some of the key messages that we deliver here at Windsor State School at home, parents and carers are encouraged to have discussions with their students about implementing “Connecting Habits” within their ways of being, rather than disconnecting habits. Positivity breeds positivity, and connecting habits can be a key conduit to forming and maintaining positive relationships with others.
