Across the Principal's Desk ...
We have kicked off our final term of learning with shimmering blue skies, happy swimming lessons and a historic whole school celebration.
Whilst the 160th year is not a formally recognised milestone, it offered an opportunity for us to open our school doors to those who have enjoyed their primary education at Windsor. Thank you to our interested staff and the Windsor Historical Society who made themselves available last Saturday. We led numerous well researched school tours, served hundreds of cups of tea and heard many memorable stories.
Our longest serving staff member, Mrs Faye Hass was here to cut our 160th cake and along with Mr Rob Price, was able to answer almost any questions about the history of Windsor. We have such a rich history and place great value in keeping these stories alive. Thank you to all who came along to this very special morning at Windsor State School.

Wake up Windsor
Each year our school captains participate in a regional leadership project which results in a school legacy project. This year Jackson, Evie, Annabel and Mason worked with their secondary mentors to create a weekly whole school announcement system at Windsor. You may have heard the vibrant Wake Up Windsor announcement through our PA system each Monday morning. Last week our school leaders presented the success of their project to all other participating schools, their families and facilitating teachers. Thank you, Mrs Vincenzi who proudly supported our captains.
Staffing News
Thank you to families who have informed us if they are departing Windsor SS in 2026. This information along with our numerous new enrolments is allowing me to more accurately secure class numbers and appropriate staffing.
Today we share the news that Mrs Stacey Barlow will be transferring out of Windsor next year. This is bittersweet news for us as Stacey is an outstanding teacher and a strength in our community across a variety of areas including sport and sustainability. After 10 years association at our school, the Barlow family will be relocating to West End next year. I am delighted that Stacey has been able to secure this requested transfer and a teaching position in the senior school at West End State School for 2026.
We welcome Mr Kean McGlinchy, who will be coming from Chapel Hill State School, and welcome back Ms Kaitlin Gordon, who has been enjoying maternity leave with her young family throughout 2025.
As staffing news arises, I will always share with the community as soon as able. Transitions between our familiar and trusted adults is an important piece for children in primary school.
Yours in Education
Shona
